Your French <em>notaire<\/em>  will prepare and send us a draft &#8220;<strong><em>procuration<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (power of attorney) for you to accept the gift, or buy or sell real property. You need to sign this document before a &#8220;local  authority.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/frenchcounsel.com\/index.php\/catherine-parker-2\/\">Catherine Parker<\/a><\/strong>, who is both a <strong>California lawyer<\/strong> and a <strong>California<\/strong> <strong>Notary Public<\/strong>, is such a &#8220;<strong>local authority<\/strong>.&#8221; She is also a <strong>member of the Bar of Paris, France<\/strong>. She can explain and discuss with you the legal meaning under French law of the documents you are signing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She can also certify deeds, in French or in English, for Canadian <em>notaires<\/em> in Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We follow the guidelines of the professional organizations of the <em>Notaires de France<\/em>. If you are not fluent in French, we can provide the required <strong>translations<\/strong>.
